Sometimes things happen, but your manager replied 15 hours later. That just doesn’t make sense. Pings don’t always work, and not everyone sees them immediately.

If you’re on negotiation duty, at least have someone active handling it. Why are you scared to play? Waiting 15 hours to reply when the match is on the same day isn’t acceptable at all.
